Anjali Yoga and Meditation

Offers a fresh and inspiring approach to Yoga & Meditation honouring the uniqueness of each individual through the authentic and profound teachings of the Satyananda Yoga Tradition

Anjali means to offer, to honour and respect, and describes the essence of inspiration out of which the yoga unfolds. Resonating with this spirit of intention, the classes are offered, and the participants are encouraged to honour their own physical considerations, authentic nature and deeper connections.

Ambikananda Yoga

Yoga is an offering we make to ourselves when we need to bring back into balance the pace of our lives, the clarity of our minds and the quality of our existence. It is a system of practises and experiences which unite all the disconnections and dissipations of body, mind, heart and consciousness.

There is a place in a yoga class for us all. We work with ourselves just as we are in the moment without pressure or forcing. Through self – exploration and evaluation, awareness deepens and dormant energy awakens creating a flow of natural adjustments which ease us into the blooming of inner freedom and strength. The more energy we can awaken the less we can be disturbed.

Ambikananda Asana

Asana is soft and gentle with appropriate challenge which is always within the range of individual participants’ capability. As the body improves in mobility and strength a little more dynamic practise is introduced in balance with the gentler side.

The focus is on awareness of physical capability or limitation and attunement with the body’s instinctive messages. By honouring the silent language of the body, its’ innate intelligence releases deep blockages, uncovering a new found freedom and vitality, naturally in it’s own time. Yoga is “going with the flow” rather than pushing, forcing and straining which produces the opposite result.

Ambikananda Power of the breath

The breath is the essence of life and is a very big part of the yogic experience. The way we breathe is directly related to mental and emotional states. Alertness, vitality, health or disrupted mental calm, along with our coping strategies in regard to stress and anxiety, are expressed in a wide range of breathing changes. By mastering this subtle language of the breath we can influence our inner nature consciously and positively.

We gradually develop our breathing capacity and learn how to use selected safe, breathing patterns to our advantage in all levels of life, health and states of mind.

Ambikananda Deep relaxation (yoga Nidra) and meditation

These aspects of Yoga come as we wind down into stillness and silence after activity.

This time in class is deep, healing, profound and empowering establishing nourishment and realignment of all aspects of the personality. Experience is needed as no words can describe the feeling of being close to your heart and original nature.

Mudra: means gesture. In yoga, mudras are performed with the body, feet, hands, head, eyes and mind establishing a silent and powerful body language. This communication stimulates and adjusts energetic pathways, re-establishing balance and harmony where the difficulties of living undermine our wellbeing and contentment.

As yogic healing agents, mudras offer beneficial changes to the physical, energetic, psychological and emotional states serving as tools for stress management, increased vitality, self enhancement and subtle nourishment.

Anjali Mudra also known as Namaste Mudra, is used as a welcome acknowledging the self and the other with total acceptance and respect. Being a gesture of yoga and union, Anjali mudra establishes a communication between the individual self and the Higher Self balancing the extremes of all opposites to unite us in the freedom and simplicity, which is the essence of yoga and being at one in the heart.
